Sunday Funday

Happy Sunday! Today is the first day the sun has come out this week. My therapist and I commiserated about how rough these Midwest winters are. Getting cozy is the key to surviving these gray cloudy winter days. But when that sun comes out, I want to peel myself off of the sofa and unearth myself for the layers — blankets, fuzzy socks, and sweaters. Okay, I’m still in layers and still on the sofa (that’s where I’m writing this), but fashionably so. There’s something about getting dressed up and showing up even when you have nowhere to be after days and days of gloom and cold. When that sun is shining it prompts me to add some color to my look. A pop of pink lip, lilac hoops, and a pea green hair claw clip atop my usual black and white winter attire.

On top of the pop of color, my skin and hair needs to pop with hydration. I’m using JVN’s Pre-Wash Scalp Oil to help my scalp survive this oh so very dry winter. For my face, I recently started using CocoKind’s skin care products. Fingers crossed it works out for my skin this season. I’m two days in and so far, my sensitive skin isn’t freaking out!

Back to having nowhere to go. . .one of my goals this winter is to get outside as much as possible. It’s gonna be a challenge with a high of three degrees and negative twenty wind chills expected next week. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of that this winter, but outside we must go! So on this rare sunny day, I’m heading out even if it’s just a walk around the block wearing a shade of lipstick that makes me feel happy.

What little things are you doing to keep your spirits up this winter?
