A Chinatown Inspired #colorfitpalette
Here at The Riza I’m all about color. Most importantly, I love showing you all how to see color palettes in your day to day. Someone once asked me if it color schemes (aka primary, complementary, etc.) were real — as in, naturally occurring in nature or was it all made up by some random person who then decided to call this whole grouping-colors-together Color Theory. I won’t go into the whole history of that (mostly because I don’t have time to do the research), but I assume that someone noticed the color patterns in nature, compiled his (or her. . . but let’s be honest, there’s a high probably it was a man — because women couldn’t be legitimate scientist or artist back then) findings and created the theory of color. Much like the man who created all that information on drawing perspective. I replied to this person that it is naturally occurring. I pointed out color schemes in a sunset, flowers, and even on a person. Anyway, I love color and I love seeing the patterns of color in my environment — both in nature and in human-made environments. I paired that with my love for fashion. And like a stylist setting up a photoshoot, I wanted to show how the colors of an outfit work with the colors of the environment, but mostly in not planned photoshoots like on this day I was strolling through Chicago’s Chinatown.
I love the orange and the red of this pavilion and wanted to pair it with the lilac color of my bucket hat. A little ways from this pavilion, I came across this graffiti art at the underpass. With one outfit I created two color palettes. Look one at the pavilion creates an analogous color scheme with orange, red, and purple. The second look at the underpass creates a tetradic, which is essentially two sets of complimentary colors — yellow and purple and red and green.
Which color palette are you feeling?
