NYFW Look: Day One

My first look for NYFW is this collar shirt and pleated skirt Dries Van Noten dress that I rented from The Fixx Collective. If you know me, you know a collar shirt is my bread and butter. So this dress was a must rent when The Fixx Collective founder, Daisy, showed it to me. I love the gray (especially this deep blue-is gray) paired with this soft pink. I love the melding of masculine and feminine with the boxy top (omg that pocket!) and the lightness of the pleated skirt. Doesn’t it catch in the wind beautifully? When shooting this look, the wind came through Freeman Ally at the perfect time, billowing up the skirt. It was very much a magically fashion moment, much like that of when you were 5 years old, spinning endlessly to make your skirt of your dress float.

I paired this lovely dress with baby blue socks from Swedish Stockings (you can’t see it in the photos, but it has a subtle polka dot texture) and Nike Air Force 1 Sage Low. I never thought I’d wear a platform sneaker. I always thought it a bit humiliating to wear platforms when you’re short, but I love the bit of height it gives me. Also, there’s no shame in being short and definitely no shame in adding height via some rad shoes.

Let me know what you think about this look. I love the dress and sneakers look — probably always will. Are you into the dress and sneaker look? Share your thoughts on the color palette as well — are you a fan of pink, blue, and gray? How would you style a look with these colors? If you try these colors out, tag @therizamag and use the hashtag #colorfitpalette to show me how you style these colors. I’d love to feature your look on my Instagram!
