Styling It with Laureen Uy
Going strong with the Pinay pride here with my last Styling It of my favorite Fall/Winter 2020 street style looks! Meet Laureen Uy, fashion and travel blogger turned vlogger! I met her outside of Springs Studios and after photographing her I asked her if she was Filipino. Remember, it’s a big deal when Filipinos meet! Sure enough there was the exchange of “Oh, you’re Filipino?!” and “Yeah, I’m Filipino too!” Next thing I know, I’m meeting her crew (one of whom was Camille Co) and I’m geeking out (all internally because I gotta look cool to these international fashion influencers) because I’ve never met Filipino creatives before. For all you Filipino-Americans who grew up watching The Debut, you feel?! I swear, every Filipino I ever met had some medical degree. So hanging with Filipino creatives was just heaven! Okay, I’ve strayed from the topic. You’re here for Laureen’s styling tips—so here it is!
1. How would you describe your style?
My style: I think it's a mix of street with a little bit of luxe. I find myself always leaning more towards pants than skirts, neons than florals, etc. but I always try to balance that edginess by wearing layered gold accessories, heels, or even a bright red lippie to still make my look a little bit sophisticated.
2. What advice do you have about finding your personal style?
Finding your personal style might be a little bit tricky at first if you're a fashion lover like me-- I've tried it all: girly, preppy, rock, edgy, etc. It's a process and a journey that you should embrace-- what's most important is you feel comfy and cute with what you're wearing and eventually, you'll know what you want and you'll find yourself sticking to that specific style.
