Farmer's Market Haul
This morning, after doing yoga, the kids and I headed over to the farmer’s market. We’ve been waiting for good weather to grab some peaches and after three thwarted attempts, we woke up to sunshine and immediately headed out the door lest we miss the opportunity due to another swift summer storm.
15 Things About Living in Rural Idaho
I am no stranger to Idaho. I know the culture, but this very familiar state gets a new perspective when a friend asks, “What's it like to be a Filipina in rural Idaho?” So to answer her question, here are 15 things about living in rural Idaho.
Huckleberries and A Cake
Huckleberries came early in the mountains of Idaho. I’m told by the mountain berry enthusiasts that they come in the late summer, August and into September. I was lucky enough to catch the huckleberry season just before our time in our isolated cabin staycation came to an end. And I celebrate the hard work we put into our summer (and into picking those berries) by making a cake.
Twelve Years and The Obamas
The last time we were at the Art Institute of Chicago it was on my 30th birthday, months before lock down would take place. It was our last family outing. Now on this end of the pandemic, Jordan and I decided as part of our twelfth anniversary celebration we would go see the Obama portraits. There’s no better way to celebrate our marriage than by celebrating a couple who, in my opinion, is #couplegoals.
Blue Lake Adventures
Jordan and I hike to Blue Lake whenever we get a chance to spend a summer in Cascade, Idaho. It is one of my favorite hikes because it’s an easy 1.6 mile out-and-back hike that has breathtaking views at every turn. It was our first time hiking as a family of four. Thank goodness my sister came out to visit because three adults to two littles made for an easy-going hiking adventure.
Thirty and Thriving
Friends, I’m thirty! Whether it is the fear of physical changes or the change of a woman’s image in society, many women fear leaving their twenties behind. With my turning thirty, I’m looking forward to the changes that are ahead and my experience at the Warhol exhibit reminded me that I’m still me.
